Later this year. Updated – PS Blog updates a few more details.

Although we heard murmurings of a Castle of Illusion Vita title, we were a little surprised to see that Disney just tweeted that Epic Mickey 2 will be coming to the Vita later this year.

Other than the following boxart, no other details were revealed.

The game has been released on the Wii U as well as the PS3 and 360 and involves Mickey and his friends trying to restore the world around them.

Do you think this will be well suited to the Vita? Great that Disney are supporting it? Let us know in the comments. i think it could be a title that makes great use of the capabilities of the Vita if done right and not lazily ported.

The EU Blog updated today with the news that the experience will be “even more epic using the awesome controls of the PS Vita, including front touch for greater painting accuracy and tilt controls for racing mode. Not only that, but there‚Äôs also a two-player wi-fi co-op mode exclusive to the PS Vita, so you can unleash the power of two on the go anywhere, anytime.”

Shut up and take my Money Mickey. I know two very short, squeaky vita players that are gonna love this!

      Aww.. Have fun!

  • Console game wasn’t that great, I’m not too excited for this one.

Didn’t play either console game but sad to hear it wasn’t great. The premise has SO MUCH promise. Do we seriously have to wait for Kingdom Hearts to get a good Disney adventure?

      • I’m not too fond of Kingdom Hearts either…

I heard the Kingdom Hearts 3DS game is quite good for KH fans.

Now see–I was (read:still am) a big Disney kid so I’m a sucker for a good Disney adventure–Kingdom Hearts fits that bill pretty well for me while still being a good game on a technical level.

The plot can get a little labyrinthine at times though since…well, since it’s a SquareEnix game. Haven’t played the 3ds one.

  • The EU blog updated with news of a Wifi mode, which may be cool and some other control tools.

  • I think the flaws with the original releases would be fixable and it sounds like far more than a straight port so maybe they’ll fix the issues too. It’s clear Sony are looking to pad out the “family friendly” lineup for Vita now. Maybe they’re really going to push the boat out with games like Invizimals etc and a more “child friendly” retail price for the console by Christmas?

    • This announcement and the revelation that Sony themselves are dealing with this leads me to have two immidiate thoughts outside of a bit of confidence that this won’t be a botched port.

      1. Sony do indeed seem to be going for a different demographic to get some success for the Vita.
      2. Out of all of the titles they could have taken on board themselves and ported, they didn’t heed Randy’s cry for Borderlands 2? Or have they…?

  • Like I said, not interested much but If I have extra money I will get it and throw some gameplay out there for all to see.
