Not one, but TWO HD Final Fantasy re-masters!

We’ve known for quite a while that Final Fantasy X was coming to the Vita and PS3 in the shape of a high-definition remaster. However, a recent leak suggests that the sequel to the game, FF X-2 is also on its way- and this 2013. A leak from next week’s (Japanese) Jump Magazine states that it is included on the same disk as FF X HD in the PS3 version, but that the PS Vita versions of FF X HD and FF X-2 HD will have to be bought separately.

Hmm—I honestly don’t know how I feel about this.

On the one hand I’m super excited to hear that X-2 will be coming to the Vita. I mean, it’s nobodies’ favorite Final Fantasy but it’s a fun little tale and as a huge fan of X, I always had more fondness for it than it really deserved. Plus, always great to see another Vita title w/ name recognition.

But on the other hand, this may lead me to buying this game (that I was always sure I was going to get on the Vita) for the PS3 instead. As much as applaud SquareEnix for giving us both X and X-2 for the PS3 (especially as it was always kind of a dubious value port compared to things like the God of War or Prince of Persia Collections—or even SE’s own Tomb Raider Collection), I also feel like I almost HAVE to get the PS3 version or I will be wasting money.

Would love to see this as a cross-buy, or to have the Vita version of X come w/ some kind of PSN discount for X-2 to bring it in line w/ the PS3 price point. But without that…I may have to go PS3.

  • Good news. Hopefully they will both be cart games rather than dd only
