A game centred around . . . info-graphics?

A few hours ago, Sony announced that there were a lot of new small titles coming to the PlayStation Network. One of these titles was Metrico, of which nothing was announced at the time. It turns out Metrico is an original action puzzle game created by Dutch developer Digital Dreams based around the premise of info-graphics.

The idea [for Metrico] has been in our heads for a few years, and was born out of noticing how beautiful infographics can look as an art form.

It was reinforced by seeing that infographics have become increasingly important in contemporary pop-culture. While they haven’t made their way to videogames yet, we think it’s a place where they can work exceptionally well. This is not just because of their pretty aesthetics as much as it is about actively changing data and how that can be visualized.

This title looks quite promising, also regarding the fact the designers have won the won the Indiepub propeller Award in 2012 in the category of “Best Design” for an earlier prototype of the title.

I'm Jasper, and fairly new to the gaming world, as I have only been into gaming since early 2011. I enjoy a wide variety of genres, but I'm most drawn towards platformers, open world games and RPGs. Aside from playing and writing about video games, I also enjoy such things as reading and listening to many kinds of music.

Hmm.. what an original concept. The Vita may become home for the “art” game much like the PS3 is for consoles. This is a good thing.

I hope it includes pie graphs. Those are my favorite! ; )
