A new augmented reality game is trying to push its way onto the Vita with a Kickstarter campaign, have a look!

In Clandestine: Anomaly, you’re not a character in a fictional world: you are you, and your mobile device is a window into another layer of reality that is encroaching on our own. The world of Clandestine: Anomaly is all around you.

For over a year, we’ve been working to build an incredible new game that we believe finally fulfills the massive potential of AR. Unlike virtually every other AR game developed so far, Clandestine goes beyond gimmicks – AR is the foundation of development. We have perfected its implementation to create an epic, story driven game that you play in your own neighborhood. You are the main character, and the front line is everywhere…

We’d love to put Clandestine onto the Vita, which is why we’re pleased to announce that efforts are underway to bring this truly innovative experience to the world most powerful handheld console.

Core Features:

– Tailored Geolocative Augmented Reality Gameplay
– Epic Tower Defence Combat
– RPG Story Progression
– Item Collection and Custom Unit Building

That’s just the opening sequence, and the tip of the iceberg.

Clandestine: Anomaly is new venture by ZenFri – a creative arts and media company based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The game is developed around augmented reality, instead of tacking it on like most games tend to. This offers a more involved gameplay experience, bringing you and your location closer to the game than ever before. It really does look interesting (this coming from someone who thinks AR is quite lame for the most part), and there’s much more information and video after the jump to their Kickstarter page. I suggest you at least take a look, especially at the iPad demo – just ignore the overpriced Apple tablet and pay attention to the gameplay. 😉

There’s more info on the company, the game and how to help fund this project at their Kickstarter site, here.
