Rex Crowle, the creative lead for Media Molecule has today posted on the EU PS Blog that the highly anticipated platformer Tearaway will now be released in Europe on November 22nd, a delay of a month. An identical post on the US PS Blog by Siobhan Reddy states that this is also the case for the North American release.

They said: “Tearaway is our first handheld game, set in a totally new world, with characters on a new adventure. Throughout development we have constantly explored all the ways we could think of to create the most fun and enjoyable experiences possible on a PS Vita, whilst also learning how to make a 3D creative platformer! We are really proud of the work we are doing, and are really excited to share it with you!

We are now in the final stages of development, and have come to the realisation that we need a little more time than we anticipated to finish the game; to tie all of the mechanics, story and amazing visuals together into the adventure that we want you to play. To give us that time, we’ve decided to move the release date by one month, from mid-October, to November 22nd.

We’re really, really sorry for the minor delay, we promise you hand on heart that the wait will be worthwhile! Thanks for being patient, please don’t be too cross with us, lots of love, Mm xxxx”

Whilst we can’t say that we aren’t disappointed, we are sure that it will be worth the wait. Are you excited for Tearaway?

    FUCK!

Sad, but I really don’t get too fussed about release dates. As long as the game is coming I don’t much care WHEN unless there is some kind of outside circumstance (like wanting to play it before another title) that would compel me to want it NOW.

In this case, I am just happy the the extra month will likely result in a slightly better product than I would otherwise get. Works for me.

Tell that to people still waiting for The Last Guardian, or those who waited years for Gran Turismo 6.

Anyways, I’ll bet the real reason is to avoid being released so close to Killzone Mercenaries.

Well, as one of those people waiting for The Last Guardian, I think it’s kind of a different situation. I didn’t start getting really nervous about that until YEARS had passed and it became clear that there was not a team working full time on the game. Even now, if Sony would just come out and say–“yes, this game WILL come out, even if it takes another 5 years” I would be cool. I just worry that it will be cancelled.

GT6 never bothered me as it was always GOING to come–it was just a matter of when.

And while you may be right about Killzone, I feel like based on footage the game DID need some polishing. Glad they’re taking the time.

Not really bothered as I probably still be playing Killzone Mercernary by then 😉

  • Jonathan Harding-Rathbone

Better they get it right over rushing things 🙂

  • Kyle Wakeling

Well that sucks that it’s delayed, but I’d rather a complete polished game than something with issues or missing/improperly implemented features.

  • Buckybuckster

Doesn’t bother me in the least. The delay gives MM the time to make sure it’s an polished title. And the Vita fall release schedule is sooooo chocked full of must have goodness, the extended wait for this gem will be made all the more easier to endure.

Awww, well anyways we’ll have Killzone Mercenary and Batman anyways.

  • More time to enjoy Killzone before I get distracted with this one I’m ok with this delay but still a bit upsetting.
