Hey everyone as I’m sure some of you know I have been away at PAX PRIME down in Seattle, WA. I got to play a ton of upcoming Vita games and I thought you should know what I enjoyed the most! So here’s my top 5 Vita games at PAX enjoy!

5. Dragon Fantasy Book II

If you played DFB1 you will definitely get a similar feeling when playing this, but with better graphics and streamlined gameplay. Developed by Muteki Corporation. One of the best parts is you don’t even need to play DFB1 to know what’s going on in DFB2. The game controls very well and has added some new features that make this an amazing title to look out for. Look for a more in depth look later on.dragon-fantasy-book2-combat

4. Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate

Armature Studios is taking an interesting approach towards a Batman game. This 2.5D game looks fantastic on the Vita and has almost identical combat as it’s console counterpart. With the limited amount of play I got this title seems to be promising, and as before look for more soon on the site for a much more in depth look.ArkhamBlackgateExpo5

3. Atomic Ninjas

What Grip Games is trying to do with the multiplayer genre is quite interesting. In this 2D action game you can’t kill your enemies by directly hurting them, but by disrupting their route you can cause them to fall to their death or burn in a scorching hot fire. The game plays quite well and looks fantastic on the Vita. Check back soon for more on Atomic Ninjas.Atomic

2. Terraria

505 games are bringing their hit PC game to the Playstation Vita and am I excited about this one. After a decent amount of play time at PAX, it has skyrocketed to one of my must have lists. It plays extremely well and looks just as good as the console version. Missing a couple of control inputs the Vita version uses the touch screen perfectly making it very quick and easy to zoom in and out and select different items. With the ability to make your own world every time you play this game can truely never end!Terraria

1. Tearaway

As many people may know Media Molecule is taking a little big step into a different style of game (see what I did there). In this 3D adventure game you play as a little guy Iota (or gal Atoi). Your objective is to get Iota’s message to you the player. One of the first things I noticed was just how colorful and alive the world is. Everything is so adorable in this game, and I can’t wait to see what’s around the next corner in Tearaway. With back touch and front touch gameplay Media Molecule makes using these features work which isn’t easy to do. The game controls extremely well and I can’t wait to finally get the full game in my hands!Tearaway

Tyler Olthoff is a 24 year old who has been gaming since he can remember. In love with almost all types of games, the only type he can't stand (and that's probably because he sucks at it) is fighting games. His favorite genres would have to be shooters, RPGs, and adventure games. He owns almost every new system out there including PS4, PS3, XB1, PSVita and the 3DS, but barely plays any of them as it's mainly his good old Vita getting the attention!
  • After Killzone releases this week all eyes will turn to “what’s next” and Tearaway, Terraria and Batman all look very promising. Atomic Ninjas certainly looks interesting. The first Dragon’s Fantasy book still doesn’t have an EU date. 🙁

    • I talked to the Dev about the EU release be sure to look at my write up soon about Dragon Fantasy Book II.

  • Jonathan Harding-Rathbone

I cannot wait for Tearaway! It’s my most anticipated release this year. Batman also looks ace! And of course we can’t forget Killzone 🙂

  • Pata

I have been holding on Terraria to get the Vita version as it seems perfect for portable gaming. Of the list I’m also interested in Batman and Tearaway.

  • Buckybuckster

And the system with “no games” continues to overflow with, well whatdoyaknow…….MORE GAMES!!

How did I know Tyler would pick Tearaway as his NO. 1 game? Maybe a little first impressions feature clued me in? LOL
