If you’ve got used Ubisoft titles with no online pass, you just hit the jackpot.

Ubisoft has taken the harpoon to its Online Pass program following an issue with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and gated content.

The consumers have spoken up against this practice and Ubisoft caved just like EA and Sony’s first party studios did earlier this year – online passes for future and previous Ubisoft releases will now be free.

Sounds to me like some of the bigger companies are jumping ship, maybe this heralds the end of the online pass era?

One can only hope.

In the near future we will look at Online Passes as primitive solutions to a complicated issue. They should never have been implemented.

I was worried about this going forward. After paying for ps+ for multiplayer access, an additional online pass would be asking a but much. In previous titles, like AC3, I never bought the pass.

They announced today “Not so fast! Only on new games, old games with require a UPlay account and setup.” Meaning we have to wait for anything before black flag, but after is all gravy.
