According to information put forth by Square Enix Producer Yoshinori Kitase in an interview with Siliconera, it looks like a pair of features have been confirmed to be added to Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster that were previously limited from Western audiences.
“Yes, in addition to the Last Mission from Final Fantasy X-2, dresspheres and the Creature Creator will be included in the game. I believe this is the first time that these elements will be playable to Western gamers, so I hope you look forward to it.” said Kitase.
Many Western fans of the Final Fantasy series may not be aware that the ability to add creatures and monsters to your party was not introduced in Final Fantasy XIII-2, but in fact was touched upon eight years earlier in Final Fantasy X-2 International + Last Mission. The “Creature Create” found in the scarcely available addition allowed players to capture monsters and use them in battle, as alternatives to main characters. Moreover it was also possible to capture characters from Final Fantasy X as well as NPC’s.
The International re-release also features a dressphere based upon a Japanese festival, as well as adding the psychic job; which allows players to freeze time with a spell and utilize passive abilities that absorb elemental forms of damage.
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will be released on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita on December 26th in Japan, with release dates for Western regions currently unknown.
