I know it was originally set for a “Spring 2013” release, but it looks like that’s not going to happen – neither the Spring, nor 2013 part.

Here’s the meat of the matter, coming straight from Vlambeer’s latest blog post;

So let’s start with the one that most people are rightfully a bit anxious about: LUFTRAUSERS. Ironically, the above trailer still says ‘Spring 2013′, but we have been talking to Devolver Digital & Sony about the project a lot recently. With QA and FQA still ahead of us, we’ve established that 2013 is an unlikely release frame. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but it does mean that unless a miracle happens we don’t think it will launch before early 2014.

The reason given for the push-back is that due to a poor internal development structure and the project manager going in for surgery, the development stalled for a short time and now they’re waiting on the approval process from Sony. It’s obviously not an ideal situation, but I think we’d all prefer a complete game to something thrown together to make a tentative date.

Can we forgive Vlambeer? I guess that depends how good the game is… haha.

    Someone having to do surgery isn’t a controllable situation and very understandable. Whether the game is coming tomorrow or next year or 2015, as long as the game does come out, some of us will be happy.

    I can’t imagine gamers being upset because the manager needed surgery.

    Surgery! What terrible planning on the project manager’s part! It looks like he’ll be let go. lol

    For many indies, small things that wouldn’t affect a big company can have a major impact. I’ve seen several games I was watching just vanish and all contact with the dev cease. Maybe they just gave up, who knows? At least this cute puppy rolls on

    Hopefully it will hit in Jan as it seems to indicate the game is ready to go gold.
