If you’re a Final Fantasy fan, we’ve got some good news.

It’s been reported that Final Fantasy V (the PlayStation Classic) is now playable on the PlayStation Vita in North America, though not without a little bit of a work-around. Users are reporting that though the title isn’t downloadable from the Vita’s version of the PSN Store, you can purchase it on either PlayStation 3 or the Sony Entertainment Network and download the title straight to Vita using your download list. This means it doesn’t require a PlayStation 3 for transfer, a good sign we’ll be seeing it on the Vita’s personal PSN Store soon enough.

For those who are impatient though, this work around is far easier than most and anyone with half a brain could be playing Final Fantasy V in minutes (depending on your internet connection, of course).

What are you waiting for? Get downloading!

Update; It was added to the Vita store for easy access 🙂

I’m not sure the work around is necessary. FFV shows up both when I do a search, and when I browse the PSOne classics section. I suppose it might be due to the fact that I had previously purchased it. Can anyone who hasn’t yet purchased 5 confirm this?

I haven’t bought and it’s in the vita store, iirc it’s always been there.

It shows up in the new releases section of the PSN store for Vita. Nice. although I don’t have this game, myself, perhaps more PSOne and even PSP games are gonna come down the line. One can only hope.

  • I’m glad it’s finally compatible. I got it downloaded right quick and fast. Now its there right with the other FF games I’ve got from PSN.
