According to reports Japanese giant Square Enix passed the development of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on to a relatively unknown Chinese developer.

The Shanghai-based studio Virtuos was entrusted with the development of the title, despite having few projects of note to their name. Previously the team had worked on entries in the Ben 10 Ultimate Alien franchise, as well as the Wii ports of various 2K sports titles.

Final Fantasy X/ X-2 HD Remaster recently released in Japan, and is set to launch on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in March 2014.
