Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians is the spiritual successor to a storied line of tactical RPGs designed by Yasumi Matsuno – a man who some believe to be the greatest tactics game designers in the world.

With a goal of $600,000 and a PSVita stretch goal of $1.8 million (which still isn’t as bad as the 3DS stretch of $2.8 million), it’ll be no small feat getting this one on our beloved handheld. That said, we’re talking about the Vita community here – anything can happen.

I’m no expert on the game though and found that this bit from the FAQ explains the game best;

“The Unsung Story timeline covers many chapters of the sprawling war-torn history of the fantasy world of Rasfalia. The central plot follows the struggles of heroes who fought in the Seventy-Seven Years War between great kingdoms and empires.

The story for each hero will constitute an episode, with each episode being comprised of many stages of game play. Each episode will depict a part of the Seventy Seven Years’ War from the vantage point of various protagonists. Some episodes will span a single year, while others may take place over a decade or more.

You will play as one of the Unsung Heroes in this war, one who helped shape the course of the war but is not fully recognized by history. It will be up to you to play through these different chapters in order to uncover the mystery and truth behind the events that transcribed in Rasfalia.”

The game has just been added to Kickstarter – but with over $130,000 already pledged, I’d say this one has a good chance of getting funded in the thirty days left. If you want to know more (and why wouldn’t you), head over to the Kickstarter page which is much more filled with information than this post is.

    Sounds awesome but I will not pledge for any title that has vita as a stretch goal – too much risk it won’t hit it and the money will be down the drain. Does $1.2m to port to Vita seem highly excessive to anyone else? With it being the ideal platform for this type of game I would suggest they should have Vita as a main target platform rather than a massive stretch goal.

      Damn straight.

    • It’s frustrating that it’s so high, but there are other stretch goals along that road, so it’s not like $1.2 mil is going to the Vita port. Mighty No 9 got a Vita AND 3DS port done for about $350K if I remember correctly.

    I hate it when Vita is a stretch goal. Make it a planned platform and I’ll give you money. I don’t want a ‘maybe’.

    Up to $288k now.

    They should be prioritising a Vita version as the very next goal tbh then worrying about other stretch goals, opening up the Sony market would be a lot more profitable than adding more music etc, if the game turns out good of course. If the Vita goal was say $350k I would have put in but it’s just too risky at the moment, sadly.
