Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians is the spiritual successor to a storied line of tactical RPGs designed by Yasumi Matsuno – a man who some believe to be the greatest tactics game designers in the world.
With a goal of $600,000 and a PSVita stretch goal of $1.8 million (which still isn’t as bad as the 3DS stretch of $2.8 million), it’ll be no small feat getting this one on our beloved handheld. That said, we’re talking about the Vita community here – anything can happen.
I’m no expert on the game though and found that this bit from the FAQ explains the game best;
“The Unsung Story timeline covers many chapters of the sprawling war-torn history of the fantasy world of Rasfalia. The central plot follows the struggles of heroes who fought in the Seventy-Seven Years War between great kingdoms and empires.
The story for each hero will constitute an episode, with each episode being comprised of many stages of game play. Each episode will depict a part of the Seventy Seven Years’ War from the vantage point of various protagonists. Some episodes will span a single year, while others may take place over a decade or more.
You will play as one of the Unsung Heroes in this war, one who helped shape the course of the war but is not fully recognized by history. It will be up to you to play through these different chapters in order to uncover the mystery and truth behind the events that transcribed in Rasfalia.”
The game has just been added to Kickstarter – but with over $130,000 already pledged, I’d say this one has a good chance of getting funded in the thirty days left. If you want to know more (and why wouldn’t you), head over to the Kickstarter page which is much more filled with information than this post is.
