Tecmo Koei Europe has announced that the upcoming Deception IV: Blood Ties will be getting a Western release.

The game will find it’s way on to European shelves on March 28 2014 for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3. The reveal was joined by the reveal of a batch of new screenshots and an announcement trailer which showcase Blood Ties’ many comedic and gruesome traps. No official word has been given regarding a North American release date, however a Tecmo Koei America tweet suggests that it may be unveiled shortly, leaving the ever titillating message of “Stay Tuned“.

*Update* Tecmo Koei has announced that Deception IV: Blood Ties will release on March 25 2014 in North America.

Deception IV: Blood Ties is the latest entry in the strategy focused franchise where the player must rely on ingenuity, laying down various bizarre pitfalls to defeat their enemies.  Blood Ties itself follows the story of Laegrinna, who is described as an animated fragment of an imprisoned Devil’s soul. Depending on her performance, one of the Devil’s three servants – each representing various stylistic elements – will award the player reward points to spend on new traps.

Additionally there will be a buffet of online features such as the ability to compare times or points on leaderboards, user created missions and more. The PlayStation Vita version will also take advantage of the handheld’s touchscreen, which is used to select and activate various traps.

Deception IV: Blood Ties hits PlayStation Vita on March 25 2014 in North America and March 28 2014  in Europe.

One of the strangest series’ I’ve seen in recent times, I’m surprised this game is making it to the west at all, considering so many more typical Japanese games that would potentially penetrate the market have been denied. It’s good news I’ll say. I’m just worried of the pricing for this game.

urgh march is gonna be expensiv for me….

Assuming I care about eating and such, I’m already broke before March ><; Feb (my birth month) is a killer as it is. All the same, I'm really happy and so I can adopt Ken Kutaragi's "second job" philosophy, I'll do it since Q1's got all that I want so far. Nevermind surprises by Shahid and co.

Oh man why always that nudity in video games…. It pisses me off.

Very interesting gameplay, Indirect combat via traps, it’s like a one on one tower defense that encourages synergy and combos.. or so I gather from the gameplay here. I don’t know if I’ll pick it up full price but I will get this game at some point if it has enough variety/content.

And aye, I’m a bit tired of the fan service as I’ve gotten older but if great games are wrapped in sexy packages, I’ll still take it.. if it’s not.. like.. VK3. I can’t support that. (But that’s another discussion)

The Deception series has oodles of variety, since there’s dozens of traps, and you can do the exact same map a dozen different ways just by investing in different traps and using different strategies. Replayability is 200% good.

Awesome, I love that Europe is getting games rather than just the US now.
