Earlier today Publisher 2k Games tweeted, and then retracted, the much awaited release date for the PlayStation Vita version of Borderlands 2.

The, apparently erroneous, initial tweet came directly from 2k Games and confirmed previous rumours that Borderlands 2 would launch on Vita in March of this year.

#Borderlands2 is coming to #PSVita on March 18th! RT! “

However the tweet was promptly deleted, leaving only the image located above. The quick removal of the post left many questioning the legitimacy of the information in the post, something 2k themselves would later address in a follow-up tweet.

“We apologise for a tweet about a release date for Borderlands 2 on Vita which was posted in error. The release date mentioned is incorrect.”

Details regarding Borderlands 2 for PlayStation Vita have been sparse since its debut at Gamescom, with very little being truly known about the current state of the project. In December of last year Iron Galaxy Studios – the developers responsible for the port – confirmed that they had begun work on the title, but did not divulge info as to the state of the game itself.

We will have more as this situation develops.

  • You beat me to this post Brian. 😛

I’m not a big believer in coincidence, the parent company tweeting the same date listed by a retailer a few weeks back then retracting it just makes me think that they either was truth in it or that was the original date and something has changed.

Releasing it on the same day as FFX HD is silly anyway.

The question is coming or not finally?

  • coco_wolfie

Im thinking its true, the newegg release news had the same date, i hope its true anyway..

  • Has there been any solid info on crossbuy of DLC?

    • No, nothing yet. No news on corss play or save, or even if this will include the DLC. If the release it that close, we should hopefully hear something soon.

    • Kyle Wakeling

As with most games where the original company (or an offshoot) hasn’t done the port, you’re not likely to get cross-buy. That, plus it was on PS+, so….

      • I didn’t say the game. I don’t expect the game to be cross buy at all, but I expect the DLC to be. Dead or Alive, Street Fighter x Tekken, Little Big Planet, Wipeout, and Ult Marvel v Capcom all have cross DLC, but are not cross buy themselves.

        • Kyle Wakeling

Ah, sorry – read that as “crossbuy or DLC” for some reason.

  • Mauricio Quintero

I will pray to Allah for this port not beeing like TWD

  • WhyWai

Not having played this series before. I heard it’s co-op focused game. Not sure I would play this as single player game on Vita…

  • Kurisu Makise

On the one hand, I was pretty happy to see such news but then, without a proper media build up, as well as answering questions concerning DLC, framerate, etc…it’d rub people the wrong way. All I ask is for a solid port and access to the DLC. No need for any exclusive Vita modes or anything.

I doubt they are so far along as of yet.

Mauricio, TWD on ps3 was laggy too, it wasn’t just the Vita port.

I would have thought Borderlands 2 would be an autumn or winter release anyway as there are lots of games coming soon but nothing for the end of the year. Even the GOW collection is summer so it makes most sense to release it later in the year.
