PlayStation UK are teasing a new ‘slim’ announcement for next week.

According to invitations sent out by Sony, the announcement is set to take place at a breakfast event at 9am GMT on Thursday January 30th. The invite says “Following the biggest launch in PlayStation history, join us for an introduction to the slimmest.” With no clear indication on what this could be, the best guess we can take from this is that this could relate to the new Slim PS Vita. The new PS Vita is 20 per cent thinner and 15 per cent lighter and replaces the original’s OLED screen with a not quite as colourful LCD screen.

Whatever the announcement may bring, we haven’t got long to wait for the unveil. For further news and updates as they happen, be sure to read about them here at The Vita Lounge.

Could this just be an announcement of the release of the LCD Vita (eww) in the West? Because if so this all seems a bit anti-climactic. I mean…is anyone in Europe or NA really excited for it given the limited (and largely inaccessible) memory bump and display hit?

Would love to see a new OLED model though, however unlikely. Maybe an announcement that they will be selling 3 models (VitaTV to undercut 2DS, a cheaper LCD priced around 3DS and a more expensive OLED model priced to compete with the 3DS XL)?
