Shaquille O’Neal is possibly returning to the video game world if the developers at Big Deez Productions can reach their crowdfunding goal of $450,000 through Indiegogo. Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn seeks to correct the errors of the infamous 1994 game Shaq Fu, which has been the butt of many jokes over the years.
The good news is that both Shaq and the people at Big Deez Productions recognize the failings of the original game and are trying to create the game that should have been made in the first place. The hope is to make a modern day beat ’em up that mashes together the styles of Street Fighter, Streets of Rage, and Devil May Cry. They insist that the only two things the games will have in common are the name of the game and the starring character.
The funding level to get Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn onto the PS Vita is $960,000. As an added incentive, they’ve also pledged that 5% of all profits will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of America.
