Eiconic Games has just given us our first look at their new title; Final Horizon.

The team behind Total Recoil is at it again, this time with a “strategic, puzzling, action-packed tower defence game” that’s pretty out of this world… literally. It’s story takes the player on a journey into the reaches of space, searching out the home and defensive positions of the Swarm (your foe). You’ll travel from planet to planet, taking over not only the planet’s surface but also the orbit – the latter of which is either a kill-streak reward or standalone mission depending on the circumstances.

Final Horizon is going to both PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4 when it releases, with Eiconic Games developing and optimising their Vita engine to be able to “pack as much action into the handheld experience as possible”.

Check out some screenshots below;

No word yet on a release date, but stay tuned to TVL and we’ll keep you informed as usual.

    This one looks more interesting than their twin stick shooter. I’m not saying Total Recoil was bad, this just seems more interesting to me.

      Are you a fan of Strategic Tower Defense too? I’m glad this game is in the works to represent its category on the Vita and I hope other developers come up with more to offer! (the only letdown is OG Vita’s low battery life (up to 4hrs) – ’cause if you enjoy a game like this, it will force you into playing it close to the nearest outlet around you.

        I’m a fan of good games, all good games, except for sports games because all the good ones seem to think you know an awful lot about the actual sport and it’s stars. I don’t, but sure would love if they made some great NBA Jam or NFL Blitz games again… And I’m with you there on the battery life. Oh well. You takes the good with the bad.
