Have you ever dreamed of flying a solar-powered racer through a landscape of various obstacles while you try to stay ahead of the setting Sun? Well good news, because Race the Sun is coming to the PS Vita as a cross-buy/cross-save game along with the PS3 and PS4.

Flippfly has announced today that they are bringing their minimalist racer, Race the Sun, to all three PlayStation consoles this summer. This arcade-inspired game combines both procedural generation and hand-designed elements to create a variety of landscapes that players will have to race through as they attempt to make it as far as possible before the Sun sets.  The game will feature trophies, leaderboards, and 25 levels of upgrades to keep things fresh and challenging.

The game was first released for PC but is now making the jump to consoles with its debut on PlayStation. The small team at Flippfly has stated they plan on maintaining visual parity between all three platforms as well as having the game run at 60fps, even on the PS Vita.

Race the Sun is scheduled for release on PS Vita, PS3, and PS4 sometime in the summer of 2014. We’ll bring more news on the game as it develops. In the meantime, check out trailer below.

I watch the trailer and all I can think of is TRON. Looks pretty sweet. I wonder how much it’s going to cost. Though cross-buy between three consoles is pretty nice.

Looks cool. Cross buy is always a great thing. I miss the physical games though. Went halfsies with a friend of mine on Sly 4 and PSASBR because he wanted the PS3 version and I wanted it on vita. worked out well. I know I’m not the only one who thought of that, so I think that may be the reason why physical games are no longer cross buy.

Aside from the two games you mentioned, and the Ratchet and Clank game, what other games came out on both the PS3 (physically) and the Vita? Seems to me like most PS3 games that get a retail release never get ports over to the Vita. It’s all the smaller indie titles that take advantage of cross-buy.

Those are the three. I miss those deals and I hope they make a comeback. I don’t think they will because people will cheat the system, like me and my buddy did.
