According to various reports around the internet (far too many for it to be false), a whole slough of non-playable PSP and PSOne titles are now available on North American accounts through your download list.

Reports coming in from Twitter, NeoGAF and others have all but confirmed that previously unplayable titles (due to licensing, or other reasons) such as Spyro, the Crash Bandicoot series and much more are now playable on PlayStation Vita with a little bit of ninja skill.

Though not advertised anywhere, these titles are available to you via your download list (which can be accessed through the PlayStation Store app on your Vita, using the three dots in the bottom right hand corner), and are fully downloadable and playable via this method.

The full scope of the new title compatibility is unknown at this time, but we’ll be sure to update you when an official statement has been made or someone figures out the limitations.

Update: It seems as if this compatibility update extends across the Australia/New Zealand region as well.

  • It’s a ton. Pretty much everything that wasn’t compatible before is now, as far as I can tell. Lots of downloading will be had tonight 🙂 Phantasy Star Portable 2, Sega Genesis Collection, Gran Turismo PSP. Great stuff is now compatible.

Looks like even the demos are downloadable as well. I bought Crash during the flash sale and it clearly was not able to download on my Vita. But this evening, it suddenly is there.

Anyone know if Fat Princess works now? I’ve been wanting to pick that one up but have been holding off because it didn’t work on Vita.

The list of “not working” titles is but a handful now I believe (other than titles that were never released digitally). I’m sure Fat Princess most likely works.

    • I can confirm. I checked my Download List (I’d bought it back when it first launched on PSN), and it does work.

What Trent said; this isn’t something available to the masses, it’s a back-door type access for now.

Now the worry is that it’s just a glitch and wasn’t meant to happen. Hopefully it doesn’t go away as quickly and quietly as it came.

  • Lester Paredes

Yes! A million times: YES! I have been wanting to play some CTR and Crash 2!

    • Rockband: Unplugged I can confirm as well as its DLC. Don’t know about Arctic Edge as I had never bought that.

      • Lester Paredes
