Currently only available if you buy Soul Sacrifice Delta, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan will release a standalone demo for Japan Studio‘s upcoming Action-RPG Freedom Wars.

In a post on the Freedom Wars blog, we are told that an announcement will be made on May 22nd to detail the release date for the demo. The demo, set for release on the Japanese PSN Store, will offer players a timed trial of the game.

Freedom Wars is due to release in Japan on June 26th, and was recently confirmed for release in the West.

As and when we find out more information on the demo, and any further info on the game itself, we at The Vita Lounge will be sure to keep you posted!

I’m really hyped for this game !

That move makes more cense for the west than Japan as we are only getting the digital copy and some of us will skip out on Delta over our purchasing preference.

That was more a method to create incentive for buying Delta in Japan. They want to grow their franchises in the market where they’ll do best, after all.

How are they growing it if both games belong in the Monster Hunting genre? I totally agree with you that it was a good business move to have people pick up DELTA day one.

The proper name for the genre by the way, is Collaborative Action or Hunting Action, by the way. What SCEJ is doing, is working together with Tecmo Koei, Namco Bandai and of course, creating their own content to make the PS Vita be a place where gamers can expect those games, that’s how you grow it. They need to know that not only can they expect more but they can expect different takes on the genre, with new content to keep them not only sated but getting more people to play collaborative action games.

Demos are always good. Unless the demo is boring and sucks, like Conception 2’s.

I kinda agree, never really saw the purpose for that DEMO. It seemed to me that anybody who wanted to buy that game had already made up their mind. Really hard to convince someone who gets offended over ‘Fan-Service’ to buy that game. Fan-Service which barely exist as…ALL THEY EVER DO IS HOLD HANDS!

I hope they release the demo over here as well. I’m leaning towards picking this game up at launch, and a good demo would definitely push me over the edge.

I agree a DEMO would be nice, at the very least so we can stop comparing it to God Eater and see how this game stands on its own two feet.
