When Bandai Namco‘s One Piece: Unlimited World Red releases on the PlayStation Vita, it will release with extra features that were not available in the original 3DS version of the game.

One such feature is the new Corrida Colosseum mode, in which you will be taking on Doflamingo amongst others. In a post on Ganbarion’s developer blog, we are told that the game’s ‘Battle Colosseum’ mode takes place at the aforementioned Corrida colosseum in One Piece‘s Dressrosa arc, where we will see the Mugiwara pirates face Donquixote Doflamingo. The blog goes on to tell us that in One Piece: Unlimited World Red, this is a new mode with four different ways for the player to fight. Here is what we can expect;

The first mode is a ‘Battle Royale’ mode where co-operation is key if you wish to emerge victorious as you and your partner battle it out against two or more tough opponents in the arena.

Up next we have ‘Duel’ mode, which as the name suggests, will see you take part in a one on one battle. In this mode you will be constantly attacked, so ensuring that your solo skills are up to scratch is vital!

Another of the new modes is ‘Brawl’ mode. Here you will be taking on a bunch of low-key enemies. It is said that characters that have ranged attacks or attacks that can deal damage to multiple enemies at once will have the upper hand in this mode.

To cap it all off we have the ‘Boss Rush’ mode. This mode is self explanatory really, here you take on bosses one after another. ‘Boss’ mode is said to be tough but it is also, potentially, the best way to level your character up.

As well as the modes mentioned above, there is also a ‘Special Match’ feature that throws up different battles for your character. Victory in these bouts will see you receive a huge boost in rank, as well as having their own original side-stories.

To top it all off, One Piece: Unlimited World Red will also feature various story developments that were not included in the original, giving you the opportunity to get your own dream combination of characters to take part in this mode.

Releasing for the PlayStation Vita in Japan on June 12th and in North America in July, be sure to check The Vita Lounge for all the news regarding One Piece: Unlimited World Red as it happens!

    I never got into One Piece, but this game looks pretty cool. I hope you don’t need to be heavily invested in the story of the manga/anime. I also wonder what the Vita version looks like… those images look too good, if you ask me. Like they’re from the PS3.

    • I didn’t get into One Piece either, but I agree with you. The game looks pretty sick. I will definitely be picking this one up.
