Japanese sales tracker Media Create reports that Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment has sold 145,029 copies in its first week.

Releasing on the 24th of April, Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment has sold through 82.5% of its shipment. PSP predecessor Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment sold 138,180 copies in its first week, so Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment has debuted slightly higher.

According to retailers in Japan, the majority of gamers that bought Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment were junior high school students and above. This is a similar audience to that of which the PlayStation Vita has sold to over the past year.

Media Create go on to suggest that those that bought the PSP game Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment have switched over to Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment on the Vita.

Set to release in North America this summer as a digital-only title featuring the PSP game, Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment looks promising. To keep up with all the news surrounding this title, be sure to check The Vita Lounge regularly!

Wasn’t surprised at all by the demographic at all, in fact the franchise IS doing better than I realized. The other day at Barnes and novels I was surprised to see both the manga and the light novel books, was tempted to pick up the light novel; wouldn’t recomend the manga, the characters are too kawaii for my taste and being a Japanese series thats pointing out a lot!
