The next game in the Neptunia series will do little for Nepture will instead shine for her gal Noire in the spinoff Planet Destroyer Black Heart.
The battle system in Planet Destroyer Black Heart is take a deviation from the traditional Neptunia formula. However, players will still choose a mission from story and side missions that can be replayed later in a Rematch Simulation.
After selecting the mission, players will then select the army and leader, each of which have unique characteristics, making each one different in battle. For example, some units are better for climbing terrian than others. Since falling damage is present, selecting a team that can climb well is ideal for battlefields with a rough landscape.
When skills and special abilities are used by units right next to each other, a kiss on the cheek can be used to activate Lily Boost, a mode that can affect four characters and has the capability to transform the leader into a goddess for three turns. This allows her to float in battle and increase all of the stats of her unit. This will also grant Lily Points, which allow for a special attack that has the potential to change the flow of battle.
Outside of battle, players can craft items from materials and can turn Noire’s dull empty room into something that a goddess would truly live in.
Planet Destroyer Black Heart is set to release on May 29, 2014 on the PlayStation Vita.
