Fat Princess started life on the PlayStation 3 as a real time strategy game that was a great success when it released on the PlayStation Network in 2009. It appears that owners of the PlayStation Vita will get a taste of the sugary delights the Princess loves when the free-to-play Fat Princess: A Piece of Cake launches later this year.

Developed by One Loop Games, the team that made Uncharted: Fight for Fortune, Fat Princess: A Piece of Cake will see the original Fat Princess formula turned into a strategic turn based match-3 game. By chaining gems, you aim to take down the blue army using four different classes that are upgradeable using special gems. You can use the Princess herself in battle when she is fed cake which will unleash a smash attack to devastate your enemy with.

Fat Princess: A Piece of Cake will feature over 55 levels split across 5 lands, with 10 extra challenge levels. The game will feature an online leaderboard and in-app purchases. If you are skillful enough to reach level 15 in the game, you will be rewarded with a free copy of Fat Princess for the PS3.

The game has just been soft released for iOS devices in the Canadian app store, but is due to release on PlayStation Vita and Android devices later this year. We have got some screenshots from the iOS version which you can take a look at below. Are you interested in this game? • Fat Princess F2P with in-app purchase, I’m going to skip. Don’t want that at all.

Another free-to-play garbage with micro transactions? How about no.

  • Mauricio Quintero

Fuck this shit, I expected way more.

I got my hopes up thinking fat princess was coming to vita

  • Trioptical

    Cool.

  • Stuart Herrington

If its good, it should be a nice bit of revenue with it been on Android and iOS.

  • Well I sure loved the PSN version, and I love my Vita. Will be very interested to see how this turns out.

  • Marcus Blackstock

It is quite a challenge but I’m half way there! Hopefully I get it tomorrow.

  • Lester Paredes

Sounds cool. I like some match three puzzle games. I’d prefer to get Fat Princess on Vita. But I’ll give this a shot.

I would of loved to pay $15 again for fat princess if we was getting a real sequel to the game instead of this garbage. I’ve been waiting for a sequel to the PS3 version of Fat Princess for years and this is all we get?

Stopped reading at “will see the original Fat Princess formula turned into a strategic turn based match-3 game”.

I’m pretty sure that the Vita can handle pretty well the ps3 version with nothing less. What a dumb move, they won’t be getting me money for sure.

I enjoy match 3 puzzle a lot. But even I was hoping for a “real” Fat Princess game.

What a bummer, I was super pumped when I heard a new Fat Princess game was coming to Vita. I loved the original (was one of the first clan leaders for the original on PS3). And the PSP iteration was a nice taste of a portable experience, even if it wasn’t as easy to control as the original. But this is really disappointing. I was really hoping to see a sequel that fixed some of the bugs with the original game and added new maps and classes.
