Disney’s second generation Infinity title is coming to PlayStation Vita consoles (including PlayStation TV) later this year.

Did you catch it? I bet you didn’t. In a very stealthy announcement during the PlayStation Conference at E3, Disney Infinity 2.0 was announced as coming to Vita – but only mentioned once. That’s not talked about once, that’s the entire idea of the game and it coming to Vita was simply said, then they continued on and that was it. Nonetheless a few of us caught it, so here we are.

Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes is split up into two game modes, Playset and Toybox. Playset mode is set to follow multiple plots, with each play-set having its own. The Avengers play-set will center around Loki and MODOK who are attempting to rebuild the Casket of Ancient Winters with the aid of the Frost Giants, for example. Toybox mode allows players to create their own games and worlds, using items unlocked while playing through Playset mode.

Tons of improvements and upgrades have been made from the original, but I’m sure we’ll have more on that as the title nears release. Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes is set to release September 23rd, though it’s not clear if that extends to the Vita version as well (though we hope it does!)

I might end up buying figures now! Good announcement, interestingly the first was announced for Vita in a magazine interview but never made it.

Now I have a real reason to buy the figures!
