Sekai Project is looking for Kickstarter funding in order to provide a professional translation of visual novel World End Economica.

Here’s the lowdown on the game, straight from the Kickstarter page;

“Written by Isuna Hasekura, the author of Spice and Wolf, WORLD END ECONOMiCA is a three part visual novel set in the far future on the moon, 16 years after humans have begun to colonize it. A young boy named Haru has been chasing his wildest dream — to stand where no man has stood before. To do so he needs capital… a ludicrous amount of capital. What better place to get that much money than by using the stock market?”

Developer Spicy Tails completed all three episodes of this game in 2013, but so far it has only been available in Japan (and on Windows). Spicy Tails wants Sekai Project to provide a complete professional translation of the episodes, as well as a wider release on Steam for Windows, OS X, and Linux. Those platforms are included at the base goal of their Kickstarter campaign ($22,000), which has since been smashed through.

But what about Vita?

The stretch goal for PlayStation Vita is set at $100,000. With sixteen days to go and just shy of $57,000 raised as of this post, there’s a very clear possibility that we’ll see this on Vita and any funding you could help with would surely ensure that.

We’ll let you know how World End Economica does when the funding campaign ends July 9th, if you want any more information check out the full Kickstarter listing here.

Update! – The PlayStation Vita stretch goal has been lowered to $80,000, read the update below;

“Good news everyone, we’ve lowered our Vita/iOs stretch goal to $80,000!

Due to changes (good ones!) in Playstation’s publishing policy we will be using PSM(Playstation Mobile) for Unity to publish the game to Vita. However, we are not sure if Sony will accept us before the Kickstarter is over so we’ve decided to make a Vita PSM-only tier. Also the PSM program is not available worldwide, please check that your country is supported. The game will not be localized to additional languages, only English and Japanese will be supported.

The new Vita only tier is $30 and existing backers can add $20 to get access to the Vita versions as an add on. Sorry, there is no physical Vita version being planned.

If we do not get approved for Vita, we will try to address their concerns. But if we can’t come to a resolution then we will refund everyone in the Vita tier and anyone who purchased the add on.”

Looks like we’ve got an even better chance of getting it now!

    While I’m glad to know that an attempt is being made to bring a visual novel to the vita, I’m concerned about that stretch goal; can it be reached in a reasonable timeframe?

    • Kyle Wakeling

      They’ve gained nearly a thousand dollars since I posted this 4h ago. At ~6k a day and 16 to go… the outlook looks good I’d say.

      • nonscpo

        With two days to spare they reached the Vita stretch goal, turn out you were right Kyle, so will you be reviewing this one when it comes out. I figure after your done with reviewing Xblaze you’ll be really reved up to play more Visual Novel games 😀

    Hello! First of all thank you very much for writing about WEE -complete-

    Since the last time I’ve contacted you lots of nice things happened. I won’t spoil the fun… but you can read about them on comments section on their kickstarter page.

    Sekaiproject said that probably they will have some announcment soon when they will get approval. So I would say to anyone that is interested in game “Visit their site frequently and expect some nice news”

    • nonscpo

      So curiosity is killing my cat, are you associated with the project or just a supporter?

      • Phelan

        Nah I’m just normal sa-pō-to, normal person just like other 1136 people who backed project. Everyone is helping how they can, some donate more cash, some spread out word on twitter and others well… just do what they can.

        That’s why I don’t want to say what they are planning, because I might be doing something against their will (or I might have misunderstood their plans :P) But it is not secret and if you will read their comments you will find out what this announcment will be about… more or less.

        Anyway today another stretch goal might be smashed through, so they might say something more soon.

  • Kurisu Makise

    Great news tip, I…yeah, there’s still time to back it, so I might get in on this. It’s a Visual Novel, which is my thing, plus indie translation/localization? Yes please!

  • Phelan

    Just quick update: stretch goal was lowered to 80k$

    Vita version will cost 30$

    • All updated 🙂

      Wow I asked them about a physical retail version cause they mentioned a physical copy for PC. Never thought they were going to actually do it but glad they addressed it with the most recent update =3
