We get word on how and where Senran Kagura: Bon Appétit! will sell in the West, and it’s a bit different from the Japanese version.

Senran Kagura: Bon Appétit was originally sold as two separate games in Japan; Senran Kagura: Bon Appétit – Pack A released March 20th and had Hanzo and Crimson Squad characters, then about a month later Pack B was released with the Gessen and Hebijo ninjas from Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus. You could buy either Senran Kagura: Bon Appétit Pack A or B for 2,315 yen, or a set with both for 3,889 yen (if they purchased both packs *before* Pack B came out – afterwards an A+B set cost 4,167 yen).

Instead of “Pack A” and “Pack B” in the West, Senran Kagura: Bon Appétit – Hanzo X Crimson Squad will be the main game (which is basically Pack A in Japan), while Pack B/The Gessen X Hebijo pack will be sold as downloadable content and not a separate game.

According to a representative from XSEED;

“This was done in order to meet our shorter schedule with the development team, since releasing it as a second full game would take a lot longer, or at least more time we didn’t have to spend with the dev team’s tight schedule. So you will have to buy one half to get the other, but they are bundled in the same exact way Japan is, so it’s not much different than Japan’s. The only difference is, I believe, that you can’t download the Gessen x Hebijo pack independently.”

As well as the news on how it will be sold, we’ve also got some on where. It seems that both Europe and Australia have been included in the Bon Appétit! release thanks to Marvelous AQL, and the game getting a special title in Western regions; Senran Kagura: Bon Appétit – Hanzo X Crimson Squad.

Senran Kagura: Bon Appétit! is due out this Winter, keep an eye on TVL for any future updates.

    Really good news update, thanks for the information! I’m not bothered by this bundling as I was going to get both “packs” from the get go, so it’s fine. I could see why it could be a bit of a bother, if you only liked one squad or the other, though. I hope people don’t hold it against XSEED much and pick up the game anyway. It’s a different style on rhythm since you’re cooking, plus the antics of the franchise.

      Agreed, while the logical thing is to be upset over not being given the option, the reality is most people who wanted this game usually want the full package. At the end of the day we should just be glad were getting the games as Bon App?tit is one of those super special awesome rare niche titles that never leave Japan.

      It should be, I’m a little more worried about prices now. They better offers us a joint game at a reduced price. Nah who am I kidding will buy it anyway.
