We get some sad news regarding how soon (if at all) we’re getting Japan’s big Hollow Fragment update.

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment is getting a large Summer update with upwards of 30 extra hours of playable content – including new areas, date event scenes with Sachi, and more monsters to fight. With the new update hitting Japan however, comes the question of whether it’ll make it West (and at launch like many other games have).

Regarding that question, here’s what Producer Yosuke Futami had to say in a recent Siliconera interview;

“The update won’t be built into the Western release of Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment,” which he followed up with; “[w]e’re currently considering to bring the large scale update from Japan over.”

Despite going on to explain that like a real MMORPG, he wanted to update Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment regularly, it looks like we in the West are going to have to wait to get the big update – if at all.

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment is due out August 19th in North America and August 20th in Europe, set to be available only as a digital download. It’s already available in much of Asia, both physically and digitally.

    Fingers crossed that it sells well enough to bring here. The content looks awesome.

    I sure hope it makes it across the pond.

    Well, so far it hasn’t made it across the East China Sea, while Japan got the 1.05 huge update, the rest of Asia (and/or world if you bought the East Asian release) just got the 1.02 bugfix today.
