The PS Vita version of Minecraft is only a month away now, and we are struggling to hold our excitement in! With the release so close we are hoping that more information – and a release date – will find its way to us, but we did learn today that the Vita version will support Ad Hoc multiplayer.

On, it was confirmed by the user “padware” who works at 4J studios. He also reaffirmed that all versions will be on the latest title update, but due to the different certification requirements, they may not update at the same time.

“We have added support for Ad Hoc networking, and yes, all platforms will be on the same update.

Due to different submission processes, we won’t know the order that updates will release, but we’re aiming to submit across all platforms at the same time.”

Playing Minecraft with others is incredibly entertaining, and with the portable version being able to link together in this way is bound to be a good thing for Vita sales. Now all we need is a release date, and a bundle!

Anyone else excited or is it just us?

  • Paul i don’t know if you have the pocket edition but they just dropped a huge update, added new blocks, cave system and infinite worlds. I’m still looking forward to Minecraft vita but man that save file limit needs to be circumvented so they can get infinite worlds too.

    • Infinite Worlds is something the console version is sorely missing. Even the XB1/PS4 edition won’t have that.

Well, that’s one of the great things about the Indie Developer team, they’re not afraid of supporting every single feature your device have. These guys at Mojang have more balls than AAA softwarehouses devs.
Now, considering playing Minecraft on Vita will probably take up more than 15 minutes (whoops.. shuhei did not like that), maybe they will consider to support the PSTV as well?

  • This is great news! My friends at work don’t have WiFi so when I’m at work we can continue our progress! 🙂

Considering this is a very multiplayer based game Im not surprised they added this feature, still good to know they went the extra mile.

YESS, not already out and I like this more than Terraria!

  • Billy Kostyra

Never played Minecraft before so i’m definitely going to get this to see what all the fuss is about ; )

Haha you said exactly what I planned to say – damn! 😉
