Recently announced for a Western release, htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary has just had an update in Japan that has added the ability to control the game using the PlayStation Vita’s analog sticks.

Initially the game only allowed for you to control the fireflies using the Vita’s touchscreen, so many may see this update as a welcome one!

htoL#NiQ‘s official website also released a video that sheds some light as to what’s happening in htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary‘s world.

This video is in Japanese, but we have a translation of what it tells us;

‘Year 2078, June 12th, fine weather.

How long has it been since we escaped into this “hole”?

Did the flames of war already burn down the outside world? Will the flames of war reach all the way down here?

Those of us who were cornered into this hole, are growing a “tree”. A giant tree that can leave behind all of life, for the future.

If this research succeeds, perhaps we can show Mion the outside world.

I’m not doing this for the sake of the many who survived. I want this research to succeed for the sake of Mion.

Speaking of Mion, it’s almost her birthday. I’ve been thinking about what to give her as a present.

I found a rabbit at the commercial district that would perhaps make her happy. I hope she likes it…

I would do anything for Mion… because it is the one hope I get from this world that has been wrapped in despair.’

Set to launch in the West this fall, are you looking forward to playing htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary? Let us know in the comments below!

    Awesome. I don’t mind touch controls, I just mind it when it’s the only option. Aside from the terrible name, I’m looking forward to its release. Hopefully, this update will be included in that release.
