Minecraft for the PS Vita was originally scheduled to be released in August.  But as August is quickly coming to a close, it has become quite obvious that it won’t make it this month. This delay seemed to be confirmed when it was mentioned in a commercial that we could expect it to come “Out in September.” Now, a recent Tweet from 4J Studios indicates that we could be waiting even longer.

On Twitter today, 4J Studios announced that the Vita version has “a bit more work to do” before they can submit it to Sony for certification. This is coming close on the heels of the PS4 version failing its first attempt at certification and had to be resubmitted.

It’s unclear as to when Minecraft will be released for the Vita, but following this latest announcement, it’s looking more unlikely that they will even be able to make a September release.

  • Honestly…I don’t think the Vita needs any more good games this quarter. I already have WAY too many.

I think the Vita needs this sooner rather than later just for the prestige of having it. It would get people to start talking about the Vita and put it on more people’s radar.

      • I can agree with that. It’s unintelligent for me to assume everyone else is interested in the same games as myself, anyway. I’m just blown away at the sheer number of quality games that have been localized this quarter.

I hear ya 🙂 The amount of games atm is amazing!! But I still can’t wait for more – it’s like an addiction (and it kills my wallet…)

          • It makes me so happy, because I’ve gotten to the point where the only thing I ever want to play is my Vita.

I hear that. I keep saying to myself “I’m not going to get anymore games until I play through some of the ones I have already,” and then I get more games anyway. My self control is not very good.

They need to release this game soon as possible. They can’t release this game in October. I got Freedom Wars to play on that month. It can affect Minecraft’s sales.

If I had to make a guess, I would say they would release it on October 14 and have it coincide with the launch of the PlayStation TV in the US. The game is PSTV compatible and it would be a good marketing opportunity.

Sad that they are having issues, but it is good they are taking the time to fix them.
If a broken Minecraft somehow released on the Vita, we all know the “Vita can’t even do (insert lacking console to Vita port of choice here) ” nerds would be all over it and I’m pretty much over that crap.
