A new Ys game was announced during the pre-Tokyo Games Show PlayStation keynote, and it’s coming to PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4.

Not much is known about the game (or even what it’s named for that matter), and the logo shown above simply says “Setting the stage for the next Ys” with “Finally appearing in 2015” underneath it (this is a rough personal translation).

According to Gematsu however;

“The game is set in the ‘Goethe Sea,’ an archipelago of South Gria. Playing as Adol Christin, players will experience a new story in a land buried under the sea and forgotten by the people.”

They posted a few snaps from the stream (likely the PS4 version), which you can see below;

It sounds to me like they’re introducing a brand new entry in the series, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated with the official word as this game announcement develops further.

    Dude, Memories of Celceta was pretty great so I must have this game. I knew TGS would do something right for Vita owners but hopefully these will come out in the west.

      Agreed!! Memories of celceta is among one of my most favorite game for the vita, infact its among one of my most fav games ever! The music along with the exploration quite literally sucked me into the world of celceta.

        That soundtrack was amazing I got the collectors edition and that CD was pretty much a godsend.

    Looking at the shots I expect Vita will look close to what we see above. Happy with this announcement for sure.

    Looks awesome. It seems this time they’re going to use real sized landscape… and yeah, it’s screaming PS4 (looks impossible to do on Vita’s hardware).

  • Memories of Celceta was decent. While I do think it was slightly overrated due to being the only game of it’s type available on the vita for quite some time, I don’t regret my purchase. As such, I would expect no less from the next game in the series.

    See that Dinosaur in that last screenshot? That dinosaur means I’m sold. MORE DINOSAUR GAMES! Or, at least dinosaurs IN your games.
