Platforms not announced for new title in SteamWorld universe, but Vita likely.

We are big fans of SteamWorld Dig here at the Vita Lounge, so it was nice to receive an email from Image & Form telling us about their next project, SteamWorld Heist.

“SteamWorld Heist is a game about space adventures and survival”, our email reads. “Recruit a team of ragtag robots to explore and scavenge the remains of a destroyed world. Board enemy ships and command your crew in a unique variety of turn-based combat.”

“Heist isn’t a sequel to SteamWorld Dig,” says CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson. “It’s set in the same world and the cowbots are still the heroes. But a lot has happened to SteamWorld since then, and we want to make a game that is radically different. Partly because we really wanted to make a turn-based strategy game, but also because it felt like a clever move. The obvious follow-up would’ve been Dig 2; we wanted to surprise instead.”

The game is set to release in Spring 2015 and whilst platforms have not yet been confirmed we asked the following and got a response from Image and Form.

Any fans for SteamWorld Dig here that would be interested in this? We will bring you more news as we have it!

  • Stoked for this game. The first one was pretty epic for a bite-sized indie game.

If it’s as cool as Dig, I’m all for it. Love the video… turn-based action turns me on.

I hope this comes to Wii U and 3ds as well. I’ve bought this game 4 times (Wii U, 3ds, Vita, PC) XD
