Bandai Namco Games has announced that a third Sword Art Online video game project is in the works.

Hot off the heels of a Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment release in the West, Bandai Namco Games has taken to the Tokyo Game Show to tease “Sword Art Online III” (tentative title) – though the platform details haven’t been specified.

While we usually wouldn’t place a bet on a portable release, Infinity Moment was a PSP title and Hollow Fragment was a Vita one – so it goes to reason that while it may not be the only platform it’ll release for, we’ll be seeing this one on Vita too (especially if the so-far stellar sales numbers have any pull).

More about the project will be revealed at the Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival on October 5th, so keep an eye out for an update then! 🙂

  • Better be on vita! But awesome news nonetheless

Kinda feel the same way 🙂

Lets hope SAO and the coming Tales games sell well so Bandai doesn’t give up ^^

I bought SAO HF day 1 at full price. Going to do the same for Tales to show support. Also if this game comes to vita and gets localised then its day one purchase for sure!

And here I still hope for a retail of first two parts.

Won’t start playing III unless I will be able to play previous parts.

Hoping for a western release :/ I know a bit japanese but i want to fully understand the story.

I really wish there was a retail copy in an English region. I just cannot bring myself to pay more than £12 for a downloadable game. I would pay £40 for this at retail to add it to my collection though. I wish devs did limited physical releases for all titles, any game would sell 5k copies at retail.

Buying SAO Hollow Fragment tomorrow so I am excited for this.
