From the minds of Kazushige Nojima (scenario writer for Final Fantasy games including VII,VIII,X and XV) and Hitoshi Sakimoto (composer on Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII) comes Zodiac, a persistent online RPG.
The game is a 2D RPG set in an ancient world that was once ruled by powerful gods. In Zodiac you will master the power of the 12 Zodiac signs and explore an ancient prophecy.
Being developed by a French-based studio called Kobojo, Zodiac‘s director describes the game as a combination of elements from Dragon’s Crown, Final Fantasy and Valkyrie Profile to make a ‘new online multiplayer experience’. If you are not a fan of online gaming worry not, as Zodiac can also be played alone if you prefer.
Zodiac‘s battle system is turn-based and combines both Western and Japanese styles – as does the rest of the game. The 12 zodiac signs act as different classes and these can be switched between on the fly during battle.
Zodiac has been built using the Unity engine and has been in development for a year. Developer Kobojo have still to decide whether they will release the title at a price or as free-to-play, saying this depends mainly on platform owners such as Sony’s approval.
Due to release in 2015, we will bring you more on Zodiac as soon as we hear more. For now though, check out a trailer and some screens of the game below;
