Spike Chunsoft has revealed new information on its upcoming PlayStation Vita title Ukiyo no Roushi.

Taking place during the Bakumatsu era, a period of uprising in mid-1800s Japan, the game focuses on Okita Yoshijiro – who has arrived in Kyoto (now known as Tokyo) from Edo. Following in the footsteps of his uncle Okita Souji, Yoshijiro joins the Shinsengumi – an opposing faction to the Ishin Shishi that remained loyal to the Tokugawa shogunate.

Yoshigiri is assigned to work under Saito Hajime as an inspector, ensuring that order is kept in Kyoto. Although this is not Yoshigiri’s dream job, he does enjoy unearthing culprits, solving mysteries and finding the time to turn out ukiyo-e paintings. However, things get a little less mundane when many famous figures start turning up dead or become criminals. Okita finds himself in the middle of all of this with a great menace to face!

Ukiyo no Roushi is yet to be dated but Spike Chunsoft has released a trailer and screenshots for the game which you can view below.
