Could the Prince of Persia be coming to the PlayStation Vita? According to a Czech retailer, it’s a possibility!

Czech retailer, CZC has listed a Prince of Persia Trilogy for the PlayStation Vita. According to the retailer, the collection would include the first three Prince of Persia games — Sand of Time, Warrior Within, and The Two Thrones — bringing the HD trilogy to a handheld device for the first time. If the retailer is to be believed, the port will be priced at €40.

While it would be nice to have the trilogy on the PS Vita, we’re doubtful of this listing’s authenticity. The product is brought into question when you look at the release date, October 16, 2014, three days ago at the time of this article.

Nonetheless, how would you feel about a Prince of Persia Trilogy on the Vita? In fact, what trilogy would you like to play on the PS Vita? Let your voice be heard in the comments below.

A Vita owner since 2012, Jessey spends most of his days looking up Vita info, wondering about Gravity Rush 2, and cooking! If he's not doing some Vita/PS4 related, you can find him on Twitter, ranting about Power Rangers or freaking out about the latest Steven Universe episode.

Will buy this day one, if it comes to happen.
Also, if Ubisoft managed to make this happen on Android, it’s about time for this game to see a Vita release. That 40 Euros though… I believe it will also feature Trophy compatibility to justify a game at this (HIGH) price. They better make it happen.

  • Lester Paredes

I’d take this and a side of Splinter Cell, please.

    • italodance

      Me too

  • aros

I could imagine it being true. If the HD collections sold well it makes sense for Ubisoft to get in on it. Cheap to make you would assume.

    • Pata

I certainly think this is the only reason they would have to bring the HD remake. A cheap game guarantees that with few copies sold there is a profit out there, that or Sony is funding part of port costs.

  • Phelan

I love the series… but come on, most of us already completed those games few times.

What’s the point? Probably most of Vita owners already had PS2/PS3… I have both retail edition for PC and digital for PS3… and that’s more than enough for me. I love games, but I won’t buy them for the 3rd time just because “OMG IT IS FOR VITA”… I’m not desperate.

I’d rather if Ubisoft spent that money to create another game like Child of Light instead.

    • Borshay

The whole point of a Classic Collection is to make a quick buck, something a new game is not.

As long as it runs AT least as good as R&C Collection, I’d bite on it. I bought them for the PS3 a ways back but never got around to finishing them. I’d much rather give them a go on the Vita then the big screen.

      • Phelan

        … it’s not that quick… and it’s not cheap

PS2 version can’t be launched on Vita… simple right? Otherwise Vita would be selling like a hot cakes. Every game need to be re-done, re-rated, re-tested. And that rumor came from retailer… that means that we are talking about physical edition… that adds cost od distribution

All of that would cost hell of a lot money, that money could have been better spent just on making another game.

Look God of War Vita collection sold only 50k copies… and it is God of War! A PlayStation exclusive. The same thing with R&C. But Prince of Persia was released on nearly every platform. There is no sense in releasing it for yet another platform.

And let’s not forget, that it is STILL RUMOR. Some time ago, one of Dutch shops opened page for pre-order SSD (it was 3 months ago I think)… and it end up being rumor… sadly because SSD deserved to be released with retail.

        • Elvick

I think you’re overestimating how hard it is to port some remasters to Vita… it’s not that difficult. Nor is it that expensive to do. And retail distribution isn’t that big of a hurdle either. Aksys put out PSP games at retail in 2013… otome games no less. Niche game, on a dead platform. Yet that’s just how they do their business.

R&C didn’t even get a retail release in NA, that’s why I never bought it. And, I don’t know where the hell you get your sales data from, but no one tracks digital sales.

And he never said it was real. So I don’t know why you’re focusing on it being “STILL (a) RUMOR”. No shit.

          • Phelan

True I am providing data only for retails as those are majority of sold copies. And I meant just that R&C was also PS exclusive.

It is expensive, yesterday we were talking with XSEED about Senran Kagura and how Marvelous Europe censored EU version.(they lied that we will get the same uncensored version)

Someone asked them (XSEED NA) why they couldn’t release 2 versions for europe in order to avoid censoring for majority of countries… and they answeared that it would just cost too much. And it won’t be expensive due to ratings costs, but due to cost of changes they would have to make in code of software.

If something so trivial cost that much, than making remake by no means is cheap.

          • aros

It doesn’t cost THAT much but it’s a needless expense to release 2 versions for 0 additional sales. Anyone who cares would import so why flush money away?

          • KeeseToast

“as those are majority of sold copies” I don’t think it’s true for PSVita

And still a new developed game would have the same costs that a port has + the development costs which are much higher than porting a game because ports are done by really small studios and don’t take as much time. And you don’t have to pay creatives or voice actors.

        • aros

It took 1 guy to port Strangers Wrath to Vita. Your massively underestimating how much a new game costs if you think a port compares.

  • Oh boy hope its true I’d be down for reliving some good memories!

  • Devin Hudson

I’ve never played the games, even though I own the PS3 HD Collection. If this turns out to be real, I’d consider playing this version instead as long as it runs good.

  • Slizarus

I’d dig it, never played the 3D ones.

  • zelduck

    this and K”H

  • ExcaliburEdge

I’ve only played sands of time, so I’d get this. Devil May Cry would be another nice trilogy.

    • aros

      That’s a great idea.

  • Would be awesome!

  • Adjaero Pascal

YES, bring it with nice framerates

  • Marcus Blackstock

So down for Sands of Time. Such a classic.

  • Buckybuckster

Holy crap! My eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when I first saw this. This had better happen.

But let’s get real about this. Vita owners don’t need to be reminded that we always have to look at these “amazing” and “too good to be true” rumours. We’ve been burned far too many times before. So until I hear something on this from Ubi themselves, I will try not too get too psyched up about it.

But yeah, this had better be a thing and not vapor.

  • Fed

Hmmm they mis-spelled Final Fantasy XII 😛 lol. But this is still cool news 🙂

  • nonscpo

Whenever articles li this pop up I cant help but feel that its nothing more than publcity stunt by the retailer to get people to click on their site.

  • PSVmaniak
  • Yoyitsu

I never got around to playing the trilogy, I considered buying the Collection on PS3 so I could have the whole Tetralogy on it, but never bothered with any of them even though I really like plataformers. So I would definitely buy this for the Vita! Heck they could include a port of the Forgotten Sands (PS3 version) in this to have the whole cycle, just wishful thinking.

Speaking of Collections on the Vita, I would love to have the Kingdom Hearts 1.0 and 2.0 Collections, the Devil May Cry Trilogy (the only one I haven’t beaten is the 3rd one so I would love to be able to buy them separately on the PS Store) and the Team ICO collection.

  • Boucho

would love this. I never managed to beat the second one. Would deffo give it a good shot on the vita though
