It’s been almost a year since we heard anything new regarding OPQAM’s upcoming shoot ’em up, Project Root, but we can reveal that the game is still on the way and is set for release in early 2015, and will be playable at PlayStation Experience.

Coming to the Vita courtesy of Argentine developers Opqam, Project Root is a free roaming overhead shooter in which you will take on the role of rebel ace Lance Rockport. Piloting the advanced F-72 Zonda hover fighter against the ruthless Prometheus Corporation and taking place across eight different levels, players will take on enemies both in the air and on the ground; they’ll receive upgrades in firepower, armour and manoeuvrability while utilizing special weapon drops during battle, and engage in frenetic boss battles and strike at the root of the evil Prometheus Corporation. We have the latest trailer for you to see what to expect when it launches next year.

Pablo Testa, who Serves as the Technical Director at OPQAM said:“As our first video game title, we wanted to bring back some of that classic arcade action to new gamers. Project Root delivers fast, arcade shooting action in an open-world environment and we think it will have great appeal to players who love these classic ‘shmups’ type games.”

What do you think? Does it look like something you will be interested in getting your hands on? Let us know in the comments, and if you will go to PlayStation Experience and get a chance to play on it, let us know how it is!

It has been a lot of time since the PC, it’s great to hear that Vita release is getting closer.
There’s a Demo on Steam if you want to try the game, I think it would be fun on Vita.

Sony Experience is going to be epic. Hope this title doesn’t get snowed in with all the big guns out there. Looks like an ace title

Amazing! Classic arcade meets great graphics on the Vita!
I can spend hours and hours playing this game without getting sick of it, even though the Vita’s battery won’t keep me far from the wall outlet for long.
I’m looking forward to playing this one.
