Visual novel Steins;Gate from 5pb and MAGES is coming West next year, thanks to publisher PQube.

Haven’t heard of Steins;Gate? Set in Akihabara, the game follows a group of friends who accidentally invent a method of sending messages into their past. The discovery drags them into a world of conspiracy, where one choice can change the course of history.

Here’s the announcement of localizaton from the press release;

“MAGES., 5pb. and Science Adventure Team’s critically acclaimed STEINS;GATE will be coming to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita systems in 2015, for both Europe and North America.”

No specific release date has been announced yet, however you can be sure The Vita Lounge will be keeping an eye out for any new information on Steins;Gate as it becomes available.

Are you excited for Steins;Gate to come West? Let us know in the comments. 🙂

Sounds interesting. Glad to see it’s coming out over here.

So psyched, the good times are starting to roll in >_<

I had been hoping to play the localized version of this game, but felt that getting the Vita version over here would be hopeless. So glad I was proved wrong!

  • Lester Paredes

Wow. That’s a premise that sounds cool.

    • Nonscpo

      It is it is >_<

This is one of my favorite anime of all time. That said is there any reason to pick this up if you’ve seen the anime?

    • Kayseur

It’s the original work, so there’s a lot more details everywhere. I haven’t really played it a lot (since reading VN on my computer isn’t my thing, which is why I’m glad this port is coming over) but there was already explanations and stuff it was cool to see.
The anime is a good adaptation from what I heard though, so I’m going to take it as a way of simply “watching” it again for enjoyment.

Maybe some routes weren’t in the anime neither. And the biggest benefit: if it sells a lot, we might get the other spin offs later. (Linear Bounded Phenogram & Hiyoku Renri no Darling)

“for both Europe and North America”

Seems that they are nice guys… oh… they are from Europe… that explains everything.

If I’m not mistaken most of their games had retail version… so maybe we will get one in Europe 😀 They were the one who released Senren Kagura Burst… both with physical version + UNCENSORED. So they did far better job that those pittiful guys in Marvelous Europe who censored their own work… for god knows the reason… (they just assumed that it will be censored, so they removed subtitles in changing room, people got angry and contacted USK… which confirmed that subtitles wouldn’t change rating)

    Edit: of course. day-1

Yess! My brother told me about this when it came out as an anime and it seemed pretty good. I can’t wait for this Visual Novel to come out in europe ~ !

!!! If physical, I would go back in time after the release date to buy it again. =) Never imagined Vita version would arrive though.

Cool, I had zero hope of this coming west.
