Those of you with good memories and/or a penchant for the PlayStation Mobile format may well recognise the Switch Galaxy name, as most that played it have nothing but praise for it and UK developer Atomicom have been working hard to update the game for a Vita (and PS4) release.
According to Atomicom, Switch Galaxy Ultra is an insanely addictive, fast-paced, reflex-based arcade challenge with two modes of play, gorgeous visuals and high quality audio.
Your aim is to weave your way across the galaxy in story mode, avoiding enemies and obstacles. Along the way collect credits and look out for pickups on the track that allow you to obtain the best times! For higher-stakes, choose survival mode and see how long you can last with one-life and an infinite track.
In making the jump from PSM to the Vita the game gets a jump to 60FPS, new scenery with asteroid belts, tunnels and backgrounds as well as improved visuals and particle effects. As well as leaderboards and trophies the game also features 55 levels and 6 upgradeable ships, and the ability to transfer your save from ps4 to Vita.
You play as Vince Vance, one of the last remaining humans and one of Dakur’s best pilots. Head of Dakur Technology, Amur Ness, has tasked you to go out into the galaxy and collect the valuable element tantalum. Long the way you take part in fiendishly hard challenges that really get the adrenalin pumping and if that’s not enough choose from two modes of online play – including cross play with the PS4 – and compete to get to the top of the leaderboards. If that’s not enough you’ll also be able to unlock comic content featuring mini episodes of Vince’s travels around the galaxy, designed by WipEout’s original concept artist Darren Douglas. Which explains the familiar look!
Switch Galaxy Ultra also has a DLC pack, and Atomicom are proud to announce that they are supporting Caudwell Children and features licensed music from Nero, Chase & Status, Modestep and Kove. All of Atomicom’s proceeds from the sale of this pack go to help this amazing charity that support poor, sick and disabled children.
Switch Galaxy Ultra launched this week in Europe for £11.99/€14.99/$22.95 and we will bring you a review as soon as we can! The game launches next Tuesday for NA Vita owners. Will you be picking it up?
