The team at Drinkbox Studios have dropped PlayStation TV owners and gift receivers a little present for the holidays; PlayStation TV support… with a twist.

That’s right folks – as of this posting you’re now able to download a 75 MB update which will enable full PlayStation TV compatibility for Drinkbox’s awesome platforming brawler Guacamelee!, as well as adding the ability to play two-player co-op locally with two DualShock controllers!

Here’s the official word from Chris McQuinn at Drinkbox Studios;

“Our free update to Guacamelee! Vita is now live, making the game fully compatible with PS TV and adding two-player support on it as well.”

In addition to the PlayStation TV support, other fixes and tweaks have been made in the update and are as follows (from the v1.04 change-log);

  • Fix to prevent certain trophies unlocking themselves
  • Some background art tweaked
  • Fix for a crash possible in Infierno challenge 17
  • Fix for completion percentages being incorrect

Are you excited to play some PSTV co-op this holiday (or rid yourself of one of those bugs)?

Let us know in the comments!

    I’m excited for this. There are too few games that have multiplayer on PSTV and this would be a great addition.

      Yeah! If this can start happening, perhaps a pipe dream of a PSTV adding value to the Vita platform will materialize… (I know. Far fetched)

        Would have been nice to have 2 player coop utilizing a vita and PS tv

        The pipe dream at the moment is for the PSTV to get any support at all.

          I wanted to cry “Unbeliever!” at you, but sadly it seems like the truth. Sony is completely silent about the PSTV. Hope at least duke nukem will work in it…

          • vongruetz .

            Actually, on the plus side, a lot of the most recent releases have worked on it. I’ve been playing a lot of Lego Batman 3 on it and it looks/works great. The only issue is the awkwardness of the touch-based mini games.

            Thanks for the comment. I just downloaded Batman 3 this Saturday for my kid’s Vita, and had yet to try it on my PSTV. I am even tempted to purchase an old Playstation 3D display a neighbor has been trying to sell me just to plug the PSTV to it… must resist temptation… Agh! vade retro satan!! 😀

            I definitely recommend Batman 3 on the PSTV. It can feel like the camera is too close at times, but other than that, it works pretty flawlessly. It also looks really good.

          • GeminiR

            Yes, it looks great! Also like that my kid does not have to hunch over the Vita to play it.

            Now let’s try Duke Nukem…

          • vongruetz .

            The Duke! I tried it out last night and it looks fantastic! I was actually really surprised at how well it holds up on the PSTV. A classic reborn.

            I think after the PS Now subscription plan is available for the PSTV, it will have much more value.
