Freedom Wars has only been out for a few months, but it now appears that Sony has some plans for this franchise and may further expand on it. Sony says that a “big announcement” will be made during their show this weekend at the “Sinners Festival”.
The above map shows the stage layout of the Panopticon-themed event, where fans will get to participate in various events and purchase exclusive goods, or be a part of a Freedom Wars quiz challenge to win prizes!
Attendees can also get three exclusive trading stickers at the event, which also includes rare stickers of the game’s three Vocaloid-esque idols as well. They’ll also have events where fans will get to use their Vitas to show off their best character customizations.
This here schedule for the event shows some of the events they’ll have, such as cooperative and competitive tournaments. There’s also a message at the bottom that reads, “Something will happen during the finale at 18:00!? Stick around and keep your eyes on the stage!”
Various voice actors and game developers are also expected to make an appearance during this event. While Sony didn’t share any hints as to what this announcement could be, it wouldn’t surprise me at the very least if it were an updated “G” version of the game or maybe even a sequel. I personally hope for a sequel, though.
The event will take place on January 10th, 2015 from 11:00am until 18:00pm.
In the meantime, read Tyler’s review on Freedom Wars. He gave it a 4.9 in which he stated,
“Freedom Wars may be another hunting game on the Vita, but it’s by far one of the best. It screams AAA production with standout graphics, solid audio, unique gameplay mechanics and a fresh story line – bringing them to you in a one of a kind package that only Japan could come up with, but with an execution typical of the Western big shots. If you’re going to buy one Vita game this year, this wouldn’t be a bad choice at all.”
