There used to be a time when we would get a quiet period during the year when there wouldn’t be many games launching, allowing for us to tackle some of the backlog that we may have accumulated over the previous months.
It looks like the PlayStation Vita missed the ‘quiet period memo’ as once again, this month is packed with new releases for our favourite handheld!
We all know that some games can appear out of the blue and release on our favourite handheld with only a few days notice, but here are the key titles that we can expect this month;

A last-minute addition to the list of games releasing in February (hence its omission from Kyle’s vid below) the premise in Natsume’s Reel Fishing: Master’s Challenge is this;

But once you step inside, the memories you had in this place as a child come flooding back to you. Motivated by the memories of your past, you decide to embark on the same journey that your father did when you were young. Will you be able to catch all of the fish your father caught all those years ago, and even surpass him?’

I reviewed Minutes when it released in Europe last November and had this to say about the game;
‘Minutes takes everything that you love about modern AAA games – the cutscenes, the explosions, the endless miles to drive/sprint/fly to the next mission marker, and strips them all away until we are left with what could be classed as pure gameplay. There is no story, no characters to interact with and definitely no tacked on extras because the men in the suits thought it would help improve sales.
What you do get with Minutes is everything that a lot of people look for in a game – you will move, collect items, avoid enemies, react, decide between risk and reward, upgrade your abilities and constantly plan your next attempt.
In Minutes you control a circle that you will move around the screen with the analogue stick attempting to collect coloured shapes. These shapes come in various forms and collecting these is crucial to attaining a high score in the game. There will also be dark shapes that fly around the screen at the same time as the coloured shapes. If you come into contact with these you will damage your circle, with too many hits ‘killing’ you.’
If this interests you, take a read of my full review here to find out more about what is instore if you do purchase the game!

htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary
Release Date – 24th February NA / 25th February EU
Set far in the future, htoL#NiQ follows Mion; a little girl that wakes up on December 31, 9999 not knowing where she is or how she got there. Your job is to help her escape this place by controlling one of two fireflies that guide her, and by using objects to augment your play and maneuverability.
The two fireflies exist such that one lives in the light and one lives in the shadow, each one having different abilities tuned to their environments. The light-loving firefly can make plants grow to open new paths for Mion, while the shadow-loving firefly can move through the shadows and use a “shadow link” skill to move objects.
While exploring the ruins you can find memory fragments in hard to reach places. These memory fragments give you a glimpse of someone’s past; these replays giving you an idea of what happened in the past and the truth about how the owner became a corpse.

Your objective in Flame Over is simple. Just guide your heroic fire fighter, Blaze Carruthers, up through the floors of the Infernal Industries building in London, extinguishing all fires and rescuing all the stranded workers and – naturally – their pet cats as you go.
As you guide Blaze through this mazelike building on your quest to put out the deadly inferno and save the day, you’ll move through four different zones, each with their own unique features and hazards.

Described as a “action castle defence” game, the premise of Krinkle Krusher is that you use elemental spells to defend your kingdom from funny creatures called Krinkles. Following a lengthy spell of peace, these creatures have returned just as the Ancient Tree has yielded its first new fruit in centuries. It’s easy to be fooled by the cuteness of the Krinkles, but they are insatiable and will apparently devour anything and everything in their way.
In order to defend your kingdom from the critters with a big appetite you play the role of the mighty Wizard – or more specifically, his enchanted glove. By making gestures you will unleash elemental spells to zap, freeze or even set the invaders on fire!
La Mulana EX
Release Date – TBC February NA / EU
The protagonist of La Mulana is Lemeza; a whip-wielding tomb raider, similar to Indiana Jones or Lara Croft. Lameza’s job is exploring the tomb within La-Mulana – and that’s where the game takes place. Doctor Lemeza is an Archeologist who comes to this Land with only his trusty whip and a research PC. Helped by e-mails from the tech-savvy elder of the tribe that protects the Ruins of La-Mulana, Lemeza must avoid traps, solve puzzles, and reach the very end of the Ruins.
