Hotly anticipated God Eater 2: Rage Burst – the enhanced version of 2013’s God Eater 2 – burst to the top of the Japanese Charts this week, selling 234,180 copies.

The Vita version outsold its PlayStation 4 counterpart 6-to-1, although given the strong preference for hunting games on portable formats in Japan, you would imagine the console port was produced primarily for an international release, as with Toukiden Kiwami.

Vita hardware sales also saw a decent boost, up to over 35,000 units, helped by the release of the game in combination with a new hardware bundle, which Media Create reported as encouraging PSP users to shift to the Vita.

Other new Vita releases this week were Otoko Yukaku, Hakuouki: Zuisouroku Omokage Hana and Fuuraiki 3, all of which entered the lower half of the top 20. Samurai Warriors 4-II is in 15th, after placing 5th the previous week.

    Will this have US release?

    • One hasn’t been announced, however Bandai Namco have been localizing a lot of games for the West and the name has already been trademarked here as well.

      I’d say it’s a good bet.

That sounds promising (keeping finger crossed), Maybe we even get a physical release.

“The Vita version outsold its PlayStation 4 counterpart 6-to-1″…Which is why it would be stupid of Bamco to localize it exclusively on PS4, if that’s what there considering. This franchise started on portables, so the bulk of its fan base will be there. The sooner Bamco announces the localization, the better.

Nice to see the PS Vita doing really well at least in one country.
