Carrying on from where February left off, March is here and it brings with it a whole load of awesome new games for the PlayStation Vita! Now we all know that some games can appear out of the blue and release on our favourite handheld with only a few days notice, but here are the key titles that we can expect this month;

Release Date – 3rd March NA / 4th March EU

In Arrowhead Game Studios’ HELLDIVERS you join the titular, elite HELLDIVERS and form a team that will act as mankind’s last line of defence in a brutal war against an evil alien race. You can play through the game’s missions solo or you can join three others in multiplayer to defeat the extraterrestial enemies. One thing to be wary of is that death by friendly fire is possible, and there is no way to switch this off! Your elite squad will take advanced weaponry into the warzone and have the ability to call vehicle and air strikes in should you and your team need additional support. Buying the game for the PlayStation Vita will also grant you the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions via the Cross-Buy scheme!

htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary

Release Date – 4th March EU

Set far in the future, htoL#NiQ follows Mion; a little girl that wakes up on December 31, 9999 not knowing where she is or how she got there. Your job is to help her escape this place by controlling one of two fireflies that guide her, and by using objects to augment your play and maneuverability.

The two fireflies exist such that one lives in the light and one lives in the shadow, each one having different abilities tuned to their environments. The light-loving firefly can make plants grow to open new paths for Mion, while the shadow-loving firefly can move through the shadows and use a “shadow link” skill to move objects.

While exploring the ruins you can find memory fragments in hard to reach places. These memory fragments give you a glimpse of someone’s past; these replays giving you an idea of what happened in the past and the truth about how the owner became a corpse.

La Mulana EX

Release Date – 3rd March NA / 4th March EU

The protagonist of La Mulana is Lemeza; a whip-wielding tomb raider, similar to Indiana Jones or Lara Croft. Lameza’s job is exploring the tomb within La-Mulana – and that’s where the game takes place. Doctor Lemeza is an Archeologist who comes to this Land with only his trusty whip and a research PC. Helped by e-mails from the tech-savvy elder of the tribe that protects the Ruins of La-Mulana, Lemeza must avoid traps, solve puzzles, and reach the very end of the Ruins.

Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines

Release Date – March 3rd NA / March 4th EU

Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines is an RPG set in ancient Japan with an artstyle that is inspired by brush paintings from the Heian era. In the game you will be exploring a watercolour world that is full of wonderful yet strange creatures based on Japanese mythology. The game will feature a Japanese voiceover to ensure that the audio matches the overall feel of the game.

The reason for the Tainted Bloodlines part of the game’s name is due to the fact that in Oreshika you will take control of a clan whose bloodlines have been tainted with two terrible curses – a Curse of Broken Lineage that prevents procreation and a Curse of Ephemerality that sees you age rapidly. This will mean that you will have to manage your clan with extra care to ensure you get the best out of them!

Flame Over

Release Date – 10th March NA / 11th March EU

Your objective in Flame Over is simple. Just guide your heroic fire fighter, Blaze Carruthers, up through the floors of the Infernal Industries building in London, extinguishing all fires and rescuing all the stranded workers and – naturally – their pet cats as you go.

As you guide Blaze through this mazelike building on your quest to put out the deadly inferno and save the day, you’ll move through four different zones, each with their own unique features and hazards.

Paul played Flame Over at EGX last year and had great fun with it! Check out his preview of the game here.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

Release Date – March 10th NA / March 11th EU

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number follows the escalating level of violence through multiple factions born from the events of the original game and driven by uncertain motivations. Step into the murderous mind of several distinct characters – each with their own motivations and methods of execution – as storylines intersect and reality slips away into a haze of neon and carnage. The game is set to feature twenty brutal chapters, unique gameplay styles and savage new weapons through different playable characters throughout the game and hundreds of new sprites and animations in the distinct visual style that create lush new areas to clear floor-by-floor and a driving new soundtrack keeps your heart racing and begging for more.

Expect the game to be just as brilliant (and gory) as the original upon its release!

Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters

Release Date – March 10th NA / March 13th EU

Tokyo Twilight Ghosthunters is a visual novel/RPG that features a unique system where you lay out sensors and traps on a map to detect enemy movement. The gameplay itself combines battles and visual novel elements where players will choose from five different emotions and the five senses to convey their desires. When you aren’t hunting ghosts, there’s also an in-game board game that you can play, which apparently functions quite similarly to the main game.

Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype

Release Date – March 17th NA / March 18th EU

Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype is a single stick side-scrolling shooter in the R-Type and Graduius vein, with some very hectic game play and was praised for its addictive nature and great visuals. The game released on the PlayStation 3 in 2010 to positive reviews and, in an added bonus, if you own the original PS3 version you will get the Vita version free as the title will be Cross-Buy.

LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin

Release Date – March 24th NA / March 27th EU

  • Buckybuckster

Tears of joy I suppose?? More likely tears of “There’s no money in my wallet ’cause I spent it all on games…..AGAIN! Why can’t I exercise any self control???

Sorry, that was just me projecting my own personal anguish on others again. My bad!

    • Lester Paredes

      No, no. That’s pretty accurate.
