Starlight Tactics, the turn-based space combat game from Escape Hatch Entertainment is now officially coming to the Vita.

When the game was first revealed back in January, the Vita version was pending the systems support for Unity 5.0. I was skeptical that the support would be coming anytime soon and said to “not hold your breath” for the game being released anytime soon.

Escape Hatch Entertainment has since contacted me and revealed that I can now start to hold my breath because Starlight Tactics will in fact be coming to the PlayStation Vita as well as PS4 and a number of other platforms. The game was recently playable a the SXSW event and it builds upon the world that was originally created in their previous game, Starlight Inception.

Starlight Tactics will allow players to control capital ships from either the United Star Force or the Non-Aligned Nations in two full campaigns. There will also be a skirmish mode which will allow players to jump into a quick game.

The game is slated to be released sometime in 2015 and of course we’ll let you know more as soon as we do.

Sounds interesting. I liked Inception, though it wasn’t without its faults. Hopefully, this will be good.

I’m not sure whether or not this means the Vita is going to / could / would / will receive Unity 5.
Last time I checked, Unity was studying their position with PSM being shut down by sony.
Most of my friends are still developing using Unity 4.3.x. I was told Unity for PS Vita did not receive new Editor’s components and renewed UI, featured in v4.6. So.. what the hell does this news mean?

  • Unity skipped over support for 4.6 (the version with new UI components) for the Vita and the other Sony consoles, but there is full support for Vita and others with Unity 5.0. We are working hard to deliver a great game on all platforms.
