We’ve spoken previously about Poncho, but we can now confirm that Rising Star Games will be bringing the title to the Vita this summer.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by nature, the game is about a robot on a quest to find his maker and to find answers about the devastation around him. Adorned with a Poncho, you must help this mechanical hero overcome impossible odds and discover the secret inside him that could help save humanity!
Our press releases tells us that Poncho is a “mind-bending platformer filled with lush environments, PONCHO’s open world 2D adventuring offers a unique twist: players can shift at will between three layers of depth, an essential tool for overcoming the puzzles and challenges ahead. Packed with charming personality and interesting characters, players will want to lead Poncho through an enchanting tale of hope, determination and the search for who you really are…”
In was able to play a level of this at EGX Rezzed in early March, and even with my limited time with the game I was very impressed with it. It has a very familiar “FEZ” style feel to it, but with the action played out in multiple layers of the screen, rather than a true 3D world, and sees you shifting the layers closer and further away to progress through the level.
Tree is still some time before it launches and we will bring you more news as we have it, in the meantime why not check out the trailer above and let us know what you think. You can also follow the game on Twitter.
