NISA have announced the total combined sales for Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Dispair and the news is rather quite good.

In the announcement, the publisher confirmed that both games have sold a combined amount of 200,000 sales in the west, which has exceeded the publishers expectations.

Takuro Yamashita confirmed the news to MCV in an interview and also had the following to say about the series, ‘NISA is known for publishing niche JRPGs like Disgaea, but now we’re shifting the system towards visual novels after the success of Danganronpa’

In other Danganronpa news, Amazon UK have listed what appears to be the official box art and European release date for Third Person Action Game Spin-off Danganronpa: Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls with the listing stating the game will release on September 4th, check out the box art below.

I am not excited that they’re “Shifting” given my love for Disgaea even though it’s the deepest SRPG that I don’t understand.

But, I loved Danganronpa, it really kept me guessing till the end, I hadn’t really figured it out by then.

I’m glad it’s popular here and in EU, guess we’re all kinda sick in the head :p

Considering the traditional Visual Novel market is around 10,000 in the west, this is simply fantastic, hopefully the majority of these people stick around and test the waters with other VN’s and help expand the genre 🙂

Love both games so much. Looking forward to Steins:Gate which I hear is another fantastic visual novel. After playing 999 and Zero Escape, I fell in love with this genre. Never played it before.
Don’t know how I feel about Another Episode, but at least Danganronpa 3 is still coming 🙂

I can’t wait for Steins Gate and I hope it will live up to our expectations! 😉

Both games were great and since I don’t really know anything about the VN market in Japan I’m guessing theres more were Danganronpa came from and it would be a shame to NOT bring those to the west 😀
