It’s the start of a new month so we are back with a look at all the major known releases for the PlayStation Vita. The biggest release this month is sure to be Disney Infinity 2.0 with an exclusive black-suited Spider-Man figure. There is also another Neptunia game launching in the form of Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed.

Now we all know that some games can appear out of the blue and release on our favourite handheld with only a few days notice, but here are the key titles that we can expect this month;

Release Date – May 5th NA / May 6th EU

Cosmophony is described as an “intense rail shooter” and is set in a “quality musical and graphical environment” which will “test your reflexes and your listening skills”.

Originally released on the Wii U, Cosmophony will feature a soundtrack crafted by DJ Salaryman and will see you battling through some devilish levels crafted around a unique drum and bass beat. Viewed as a pure arcade title, the game is said to be a true challenge for gamers and boasts 60 FS visuals, as well as ten trophies!

Color Guardians

Release Date – May 12th NA

In Color Guardians, you play as the three Guardians, Rod, Lia, and Grock, as they race through their worlds to restore the stolen colour. It might look at first like a regular side-scrolling action game, but there’s a couple of twists to the gameplay: not only do you have to dodge and jump incoming hazards, but you have to switch between three lanes while doing so, hopping in and out of the background and foreground. If that wasn’t challenging enough, you also have to switch your own colour on the fly to match yourself with pick-ups and objects in the world. People who tried it at PlayStation Experience described it as being an “Ikaruga-style” game, which is a pretty fair (and flattering) comparison.

Release Date – May 12th NA / May 13th EU

Ultratron (inspired by Robotron and other classic shooters) boasts upgrades, co-op and a difficulty level which adapts to the skill of the player, whilst throwing in a dash of risk and reward gameplay. Featuring more than 40 levels, the objective is to avenge the human race as you blast your way through over 40 glowing neon levels, avoiding Chasers, Turrets, Minelayers, Spawners, bombs and bullets before taking on the four evil ‘bot bosses of the Apocalypse!

Disney Infinity 2.0

Release Date – May 12th NA / May 15th EU

The hugely successful Disney Infinity franchise lands on the PlayStation Vita this month. With a base unit designed specifically for the Vita and an exclusive black-suited Spider-Man figure you’d think that these were reasons enough to grab the Marvel branded version of Disney Infinity – but knowing that it will essentially be the console version gives you even more of a reason to do so! This title should prove extremely popular with those that want to take the highly entertaining experience of the figurine-based game on the move!

Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed

Release Date – May 19th NA / May 22nd EU

Hyperdimension Neptunia U is an action game that is a direct spin-off of the main RPG series. Starring characters Neptune, Blanc, Vert and Noire, Hyperdimension Neptunia U will be the third Hyperdimension game to release on the PlayStation Vita in 2015. This entry in the series will be compatible with PlayStation TV and will feature new characters, customisable equipment and over-the-top skills not yet seen in the series!

Release Date – May TBC

Visual novel Steins;Gate is a game that I will be keeping a close eye on. Set in Akihabara, the game follows a group of friends who accidentally invent a method of sending messages into their past. The discovery drags them into a world of conspiracy, where one choice can change the course of history. We are big fans of visual novels here at The Vita Lounge and hopefully this game will be another one that we can add to the list of ‘must plays’ for our favourite handheld!

So there we have the key titles that are set to release for the PlayStation Vita this May!

If you prefer to learn about the upcoming titles via video, then check out the awesome May preview that Kyle put together for the site below (and while you’re at it, why not subscribe to our YouTube channel).

Let us know which of the above titles (if any) you will be picking up in the comments below!

    Portstation Vita.

      Why are you here

  • duda

The whole point of the vita is that’s portable. How is a base for figurines in any way practical? I know Disney/Marvel likes to milk the cow dry, but honestly, this is the dumbest idea ever.

  • Jonathan Harding-Rathbone

Colour guardians looks good but I’m in Europe.

  • Zero Eternity

Hyperdimension Neptunia + Senran Kagura game mechanic = tons of funs letting your character get hit.

  • lastSKYsamurai

I may just pick up Ultratron. Pictures just don’t do it justaice.
