XSEED has made it a double today, and the second localization announcement comes in the form of Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders From Planet Space.

Originally released on the PlayStation 2 and later available on the PlayStation Portable (PSP), Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders From Planet Space is now set to hit North American PlayStation Vitas with developer-enhanced Vita-only features like four-player online co-op, an entirely new Air Raider class, and even a new English voice-over.

Here’s a bit of information about the game, courtesy of XSEED’s press release;

Standing as a direct predecessor to the series’ first North American release (Earth Defense Force 2017, known as Earth Defense Force 3 in Japan), and widely regarded by fans as the best entry in the franchise, Earth Defense Force 2 is making its way to the western hemisphere for the very first time with this greatly expanded remake. In Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders From Planet Space, players will take the role of one of three distinct military classes and fend off hordes of invading giant insects from a third-person perspective by way of conventional weaponry, armored vehicles, jetpacks, air strikes, trip mines, energy weapons, and more.

…and here’s an announcement trailer and some screens to tickle your interest via visual stimulation;

But now for the bit you’ve all been waiting for; the release information. Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders From Planet Space is set to hit North America – in both physical and digital copy – sometime this Fall.

Marvelous USA Executive Vice President Ken Barry had this to say about the game’s localization announcement;

“We’re […] incredibly excited to be publishing an Earth Defense Force title for the first time—one which has never been released on these shores previously, yet is widely regarded as the series’ best.”

…and XSEED dropped a bit of artwork for us to check out on this one as well;

That’s all we’ve got for now, but as always The Vita Lounge will be here to bring you any developments between now and the release date – including any news we receive on a possible European release.

    So many limited physical copies announced that I want, thankfully my birthday is coming up and I won’t have to buy them all myself.
